Open Source Notices
Last updated: 2026-07-17
NovelAide is built on the shoulders of many open source projects. We’re grateful to their authors and maintainers.
License Overview
NovelAide is primarily built on open source software, licensed predominantly under the MIT License, with smaller portions under Apache-2.0 and BSD-3-Clause.
The complete and authoritative list of dependencies and their full license texts is shipped inside the desktop application — open About → Third-Party Licenses to see every package and its license text.
Optional FFmpeg runtime
NovelAide does not bundle FFmpeg in the application installer. On supported macOS devices, Tool Management can download and install NovelAide’s signed FFmpeg 8.1.2 build only after the user confirms the installation. This build is licensed under LGPL-2.1-or-later and was compiled without GPL or nonfree components.
The complete license text and build information are included with the downloaded package and under About → Third-Party Licenses. The exact corresponding source is also available from NovelAide’s source mirror.
Reporting an Attribution Issue
If you believe we’ve missed attribution for an open source component, please contact [email protected] with the package name and the license text we should display.
